Blog EntryOK, Here....Oct 8, '07 12:55 AM
for everyone
...I got "tagged" in Nocturno's Blog & so here are the results:
  1. Each blogger must post these rules.
  2. Each blogger start with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
  3. Blogger that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post this rules . at the end of your blog, you need to choose 8 peoples to get tagged and list their names.
  4. Don't forget to live them a comment telling them they've been tagged to read your blog.

So factoids about myself...uhhhhh.....mmmmmm...

  1. I'm not into writing blogs..heh heh...they're virtual so can be deleted & the discrimination of the hosting provider....the internet is a virtual reality & hence at some level doesn't exist so blogs seems very ephemeral...whatever.
  2. I like beer.  I like wine too but frankly prefer beer.  I didn't realize how much I knew about it until I was in the local liquor store & was able to name beers that the local expert hadn't heard of....the beer he recommended kinda sucked...haha...
  3. I love puzzles.  I used to more aggressively collect them but every once-in-a-while still buy one or two.  I particularly like wooden ones...I just got these two recently (the left one from Jakarta):
  4. I have a love/antipathy relationship  w/ technology....I love new technology but hate the the newest is often the worst....witness the new iPhones....lots of problems reported & bad support....looks cool but better to wait...oh well....plus some technological advances seem worthless...there are books on computer but I'd much rather just read a good ole paper-made-from-wood book.
  5. I love bizarre/unusual movies...I've seen movies that almost no one else has seen & they are some of my favorites:  The Last Wave, Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Shout, The Passenger, The Parallax View, Marathon Man, Dark Star, What's Up Doc?, Bedazzled (the original), After Hours, to name a few....of course I love a few standards, 2001, Groundhog Day, Once Upon a Time in the West, Clockwork Orange, Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon, Taxi Driver, etc...
  6. I'm a Democrat.  I think people think I'm really conservative because I look it but I register as a Democrat....there are a bunch of Libertarians in my family....heh heh...maybe I should have started it that way.
  7. My acting has helped my musicianship.  I've been taking acting classes for the past 6 years & it's dramatically improved my keyboard playing.  I still want to work on improvisation but I'm improving by the week.
  8. I eat beef.  I'll probably never be a vegetarian.  I love meat too much...who knows?  Maybe in the future, there will be some common meat substitutes & I can't tell the difference but for now, I love a big steak or chicken or pork....I guess I won't be converting to Judaism anytime soon either....

There, duty fulfilled.... :-P

Blog EntryRather SadSep 23, '07 2:21 AM
for everyone
I think most of us expect those close to us to be there for a long, long time.  When someone unexpectedly passes on, it can be really shocking and sad.  My mom passed on last week and we're having services for her on Monday.  She was a really good mom and I'm really sad that she's gone.  My sisters & I spent a lot of time together with her but it doesn't seem like enough and now I'm really filled with regret that I didn't do even more to spend time with her.  I keep thinking things like, it was our last Christmas we her already, our last Mother's Day w/ her, her Birthday was next month (she would have been 71) so our last one w/ her was almost a year ago....

For the memorial service, each of us siblings are putting pictures of her on a poster board that will be displayed along with her things like her yearbooks from high school and college, as well as photo albums she had.  I'm going to put out the Easter Eggs she made that she put out every year.  They're really nice.

Anyway, it's a rather sad thing & I just wanted to get it off my chest a bit.

& here's a picture from when my mom and dad were first married....my mom was really proud of it:

Blog Entry:IDIOsyncrasies....Mar 16, '07 10:24 PM
for everyone

Alright, so I was tagged to put down my ":IDIOsyncrasies" by DeSriel so here they are:

1) I love technology but don't do latest & greatest.  I don't trust it.  I like it to have been out there a year or so & then I might give it a shot.  Except CPUs...I want the latest, greatest, fastest I can afford....Haha....like I finally got a new phone two days ago...old technology, I think:

2) I will work at things but procrastinate for no good reason.  Things that are really easy for me, I won't do...sucks....

3) I like my car clean.  I'm not as obsessive as I was when I first got it, but I love driving my car more when it's clean so I make sure it's that way most of the time.  I've literally washed my car in the rain so that I can use the rainwater on the finish.

4) I love to travel but rarely do so...I'm going to Vietnam next month but it's on business...only for three days & two of those are travel days basically...oh well...I'm shooting for more travel later this year.

5) I love to write but it gets in to my procrastination issues.  I literally have to do just about everything else that needs to get done before I feel like I've made time to write....complete & utter B.S. but that's what I've done...we'll see if I can do more writing for no reason so I don't feel any pressure to get it "just right"....

6) I love black stuff but rarely wear clothes that are black...I'm like a stealth P.I.B. (person in black).  Most my furniture is black, technology stuff, I have black clothing, but rarely wear it...not sure why...to overtly me to the world or something...plus I love red...my car's red & I look good in red...heh heh....

There!!!   My d*mn :IDIOsyncrasies....happy?!?!?

Blog EntryIncredibly...Jun 2, '06 5:47 PM
for everyone

...he's OK!!  I just got back from the hospital and my Dad's doing great after they removed the tumor!!  I got there about 5:30 AM & my sister & him were already in a pre-surgery room.  We answered questions about his medical history, any metal objects inside him...etc...etc...and then he was wheel chaired down to pre-op where we met up w/ the anesthesiologist, the nurse assisting, and finally the neurosurgeon...all very nice and all seemingly very well prepared...he was scheduled to be in there for 4 hours but I got a call from my sister after 2 and was told that:

1) The doctor was able to removed 98% of the tumor.  The other 2% is around a sinus nerve & the doctor felt uncomfortable cutting to close to it.

2) The tumor broke through the top of his skull and the bone was somewhat disintegrated so he now has a nice new steel plate in his head...I know he's thrilled.

3) They don't know if the tumor is benign or malignant yet.  The results of the biopsy won't be available for about 2 days...BUT if it was malignant (i.e. cancerous), it probably would have hurt him when we touched it & it never did.  He never even knew it was there....there were no headaches, vision problems, or anything else associated w/ cancer so it's probably OK....

Was it worth the worry?  Who knows but at least he's in ICU (as was planned since it's essentially brain surgery & rather serious) & talking & laughing as usual....cool.....I'm glad this part is over & now it's just a matter of seeing his recovery....yay.....!!

Blog EntryThis Blows....Jun 2, '06 4:07 AM
for everyone
I can't sleep...really sucks...my Dad's having surgery on his head tomorrow AM @ 7:30 and I'm meeting him & my sister who's driving him to the hospital @ 5 AM.  I attempted to sleep @ 10:30 & now it's 1:00 & I haven't slept....I can't say I really feel anxious, even though he's having a tumor removed from the top of his head.  We don't know if it's benign or malignant but since you can literally touch it w/ your fingers (it's poking through the top of his skull) & it doesn't hurt him to touch it....in the MRI it looks like it's about the size of a golf ball - which isn't really that big but relative to the size of his head, it's kinda large....It's called a manengioma (sp?) and isn't really in his brain - it's just pushing down on it - so it's below his skull and pushing on his brain....anyway, it doesn't look like I'm gonna sleep at all tonight....I don't really care, as long as my Dad's surgery goes ok....I'll post it either way.....oh yeah, he's elected to have his head shaved so he'll look like Mr. Clean for a little while...

Blog EntryRehearsal 12/07/05Dec 8, '05 6:16 AM
for everyone

Rehearsal went from 10:30 PM to 3 AM...cool show, Faithful, but it's a little bit of work to set up and take down.  The idea is to re-create and black and white movie look for the stage so everyone's in white-face and everything on stage is either, black, white, gray, or silver - plus there's a scrim in front of the stage that has movie clips projected onto it.  I'll post pics in the next day or so.....

Blog EntryClass 12/02/05Dec 3, '05 12:01 AM
for everyone

Never done an on-line journal, but whatever....class was pretty good tonight...rough, but good input.  Acting is about behavior and I don't know how many times I'll have to hear that before I actually do something about it.  Tonight was better...working on Lobby Hero w/ Ana...good scene for me, but theater is an enhanced reality so even though I'm doing what I'd normally do as a person, I'm working on doing on-stage what I would have to be pushed hard to do in real life.  Anyway, just gotta keep rehearsing and relaxing.  Hopefully, we have more than one rehearsal before next class, although our regular teacher won't be there next Friday, meaning the next time we do the scene and it counts towards getting it done and perhaps ready for a scene night is in two weeks..  Frankly, I'd love to work on this one everyday but hard to get together w/ scene partner...going to a milk-shake party now at Annie's O's place...sound fun....
